Configuring Outlook Express

How to Set Up Outlook Express 5.0 - 6.0 to Send and Receive Email

  1. Open Outlook Express.


  2. From the Tools menu, choose Accounts.

Note: If you have never configured, or used, your Outlook Express email program, at this point the Internet Connection Wizard will open automatically. In such a situation, go directly to step 4.



  3. Click the Add button and choose Mail.



  4. In the Display name field, type your full name.



  5. Click the Next button.

  6. In the E-mail address field, type your full email address (e.g., johndoe@domain.com).



  7. Click the Next button.

  8. Click the down arrow on the My incoming mail is a ____ server drop-down list and choose POP3.

  9. In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server field, type your Incoming mail server (POP).
- Standard Email Users:  mail.domainname.com *replace with your own domain name

10. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field, type your Outgoing mail server (SMTP).
- Standard Email Users: smtp.domainname.com *replace with your own domain name

- Standard Users should enable SMTP Authentication
- Legacy Users can send without SMTP Authentication but must be on an IP address cleared by our filters.



11. Click the Next button.

12. In the Account name field, type your full email address (ex. , johndoe@dytek.net).
- Legacy users please contact us for your email account name (ex. domain.johndoe or johndoe)

13. In the Password field, type your email password.

14. Check the box next to Remember passwordif you wish to save your password.



15. Click the Next button.

16. Click the Finish button.



17. Click the Close button.



18. Close Outlook Express.
